The Ondo State Governor’s office was on Tuesday gutted by fire. The incident which occurred minutes after the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff arrived the governor’s office was said to have caused by power surge, destroyed some government’s property.
Modu Sheriff was in the state on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko .
The fire outbreak was discovered by journalists and some PDP chieftains who were waiting for the PDP chairman and Mimiko for briefing. Effort by journalists and PDP leaders to put out the fire proved abortive.
However, the fire brigade service arrived the governor’s office 20 minutes after the incident occurred.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade who confirmed the incident, said the fire has been put out.
