FIFA sanctions Swedish FA for breach of media as France beat Uruguay 2-0 to reach World Cup semi-finals

FIFA has fined the Swedish Football Association 70,000 Swiss francs and warned it for breaching media and marketing regulations during the World Cup.

FIFA said that it has previously asked the FA to stop displaying unauthorised commercial branding on playing equipment items but that members of the Sweden delegation continued doing so in their round of 16 victory against Switzerland.

The Swedish FA confirmed receiving the sanction about its kit and socks and said it has tried to take remedial action which FIFA did not accept.

Meanwhile, France are into the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 2006 after seeing off Uruguay with the help of a terrible error by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera as Sweden meets England at Samara on Saturday for a place in the last four of the World Cup.
