A Federal High Court in Abuja has declined an application seeking to secure the release of leader of the Islamic movement of Nigeria also known as Shi’ites, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
Justice Okon Abang on Monday declined the application on the ground that Zakzaky did not obtain leave of court to have the case heard during vacation.
He explained that the applicant failed to include the DSS, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation as respondents.
Abubakar Masha, counsel to El-Zakzaky had filed the suit saying the fundamental human rights of his client was being trampled upon.
Abang said the application was not competent and struck out the application.
