The website set up by the federal government for the recruitment of 500,000 teachers, yesterday crashed following massive visits from prospective applicants.
The website, www.portal.npower.gov.ng, crashed on the same day the recruitment process began. It is believed that the site crashed due to heavy traffic.
The website showed the following message when visited; “An error occurred. Sorry, the page you are looking for is currently unavailable. Please, try again later. If you are the system administrator of this resource, then you should check the error log for details. Faithfully yours, nginx.”
The Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Akuneme, speaking on the crashed website said, “The recruitment process is on. The website has been publicised in the media. It is too early to get the response and number of applicants since it just began.”
