The Federal Government on Thursday says it reached an agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities to abort the ongoing strike in Nigeria universities.
Providing updates on the closed-door meeting held at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa between ASUU and some stakeholders, Minister of Labor and Employment, Chris Ngige disclosed the issues of wage review and renegotiation of the 2009 agreement will be addressed soon.
He noted that some of the agreements made with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) by next week will start maturing with hopes that each union in the university system will call off their industrial action.
However, newsmen gathered that the stakeholders present in the meeting failed to persuade the Academic Staff Union of Universities to abort the strike.
