In fulfillment of its social responsibility to the masses, the Afenifere Renewal Group, ARG, United Kingdom Capter has extended their hand of fellowship to the Jebba Community in Moro local government area of Kwara State.
The assistance which came in form of palliatives to widows and the indegents to alleviate their sufferings arising from the COVID-19 lockdown, took place at the Oba of Jebba’s palace.
While flagging off the distribution of foodstuffs such as rice, beans and gaari to the beneficiaries numbering about four hundred, the Oba of Jebba, Oba Abdulkadir Alabi Adebara, expressed profound gratitude to the donors for being their brothers’ keepers.
The monarch was particularly happy that Jebba community was deemed fit for the gift. He therefore prayed Allah to continue to bless and protect the donors in all their undertakings.
Earlier in his introductory remarks, the state Cordinator of Afenifere Renewal Group, Kwara state chapter, Alhaji Abdulateef Bamidele, who represented the UK Chapter at the ceremony, said the donors specifically chose Jebba community in appreciation of the courage, commitment and dedication of the Oba of Jebba to the Yoruba nation.
Also speaking, the Chief Imam Yoruba of Ilorin, Sheikh Abdulrahim Aduanigba thanked the donors for their kindness and thoughtfulness in remembering the downtrodden at this challenging time.
Sheikh Aduanigba also used the occasion to remind the Kwara state government of what he called past injustice meted out to the Oba of Jebba and called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq to immediately implement the various court judgements won by the Oba and the good people of Moro.
He said the issues comprise the grading and upgrading of the Oba of Jebba and Ohoro of Shao, to commensurate with their counterparts of 1983.
The beneficiaries of the food items variously expressed gratitude to members of the Afenifere Renewal Group, United Kingdom Chapter for the donation. They promised never to forget in a hurry, the kindness extended to them by the donors through the ARG Kwara State Chapter.
Present at the ceremony were traditional Chiefs of Jebba, the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Chairman in Jebba, members of Jebba Descendants Union, ARG Publicity Secretary in Kwara State, Comrade Jaiyeola Omotosho, among several others.
