Commercial operators to get uniform

written by Taiwo Adediran November 13, 2021
Commercial operators to get uniform

Kwara State government is set to issue ‘Riders Uniform’ to all commercial operators, beginning with the motorcyclists popularly called okada riders, in the state.

Hon. Commissioner for Works who doubles as Chairman of the Transport Sanitisation Committee Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu said the decision to register and give uniforms to all commercial operators is to curb crimes and strengthen security of lives and properties.

Kwara, being the most peaceful state in Nigeria, has many respectable and peace loving okada operators who have been major stakeholders in the transport sector but the recent pronouncement of bans in some states has led to the infiltration of our okada operators by aliens who may cause security breaches in the state, the chairman said.

Iliasu noted that many suspected criminals have been found to often use motorcycles to carry out their dastardly acts.

He added that the government is always working with the state Police command and other security agencies in the state to protect lives and properties of the people of the state.
