Clerics Underscore Significance of Islamic Scholars as Madinatul Ilm Academy marks Maulud Nabiyy

In commemoration of this year’s Maulud Nabbiy and Unity week celebration, Islamic clerics converged, to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad and also underscore the importance of His representatives who today are the Islamic scholars guiding the Muslim Ummah on the path of righteousness.

The Islamic clerics spoke at a well-attended lecture with the theme, ‘Challenges of Scholars in Da’awah activities: Ilorin as a case study’, on Sunday, Nov. 01, 2020. The event was organized by Madinatul Ilm Academy, Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

The key speaker, Sheik Is-haq Salman Pekan, stated that Ilorin, as a city is not just known for his scholarly accomplishment in Islam, but also having produced prominent Islamic scholars who have distinguished themselves in the propagation of Islam in Nigeria and the world at large.

Citing some of their unforgettable deeds, he mentioned them to include Shaikh Taju-l-Adabi, Shaikh Adam Baba L’Agege , Shaikh Muhammad Kamaldeen, Shaikh Baba Agbaji and many more.

Disputing the fact that modern day practice started in recent time, he narrated several miraculous instances and innovative deeds to show that some of the old and exemplarily talented Islamic scholars were also part of the evolving Islam without running astray from the dictate of the Holy Quran.

He took time to pray for the repose of the soul of the past scholars, as well as the founder of Madinat ul ‘Ilm Academy, Fadheelat ul Ustadh Abd’ Allah Mustapha Berende for his visionary accomplishment as well as the entire members of the academy.

In his opening speech, the coordinator, Madinatul Ilm Academy and organizer of the Islamic lecture, Engineer Tunde Zubair Oloruntoyin, said the significance of the lecture is to celebrate the greatness of Prophet Muhammad by stressing the accomplishments of his offshoots.

He lamented the prevalence of bad clerics, noting that as the Quran stated, when leaders of authority and scholars are bad, the society will be bad, but if the leaders of authority and scholars are good, the society will be good.

The coordinator, Madinatul Ilm Academy  emphasized the need for people to differentiate between upright and deceitful clerics so as not to be led astray especially in the name of religious modernization.

Some of the Islamic clerics in attendance were Shaikh Zakariya Ataragba, Sheu Nigeria, Alhaji Ghali Olalekan Abdulqadir and Khalifa Mukadam Akaase.

Meanwhile, sequel to Sunday’s grand finale of Madinat ul ilm Academy Maolid celebration, a 12-man delegation of the academy, led by Engr Zubair Oloruntoyin paid Maolid Nabiyy courtesy visits to a number of Islamic scholars, among whom are: Shaikh Abubakar Salman, a leader of Qadiriyya spiritualist at his Isale Alapata, Ilorin; Shaikh Muritala Ambali, a head of Zumura Islamic group at Ibadiori, Itamerin area, Ilorin; Shaikh Nasir Nda Solati, a Scion of the popular Nda Solati mystic and Shaikh Hussain Yusuf, head of Tijaniya Islamic mystic movement.

They all gave the delegation a warm reception, and expressed happiness for the honor. A plaque with Madinat ul ilm Academy inscription and Prophet’s mosque was presented to each of the scholars visited.
