Stars are being lined-up to perform at a concert in honour of the ailing Queen of Soul, who is “seriously ill” at her home in Detroit. Record executive Clive Davis, who signed Franklin to Arista Records in 1980, is organising the event at Madison Square Garden this November.
No further details as yet but the concert tagged, Clive Davis Presents: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin, will no doubt include covers of the star’s hits including R.E.S.P.E.C.T, Say a Little Prayer, Think and You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman by other top singers.
Franklin’s publicist Gwendolyn Quinn said that the seventy-six-year-old has been visited by family and friends including fellow soul legend Stevie Wonder, US activist Reverend Jesse Jackson and her ex-husband, actor Glynn Turman.
US publication People add that the family have sent their official thanks to fans for their “love and support”.
