The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has pledged that the Army will ensure the success of the ongoing peace process between Zamfara State Government and bandits.
In a statement released by the Acting Director, Army Public Relation, Col. Sagir Musa, today in Abuja,who said that Buratai made the pledge when he visited the state governor, Alhaji Bello Matawalle in Gusau.
The Army chief said that the process is an opportunity for the bandits to lay down their arms and embrace peace and also urge the bandits to hand over their weapons, adding that those who refuse to hand over their weapon will face aggressive operations from troops
Buratai advises the public to provide credible information that will assist the army and other security agencies in the fight against banditry in Zamfara.And charged the troops to decisively deal with unrepentant criminals.
Army chief charged them to adhere to extant rules of engagement and code of conduct as well as respect the rights of all law-abiding citizens.
