Bajaj motorcycle maker has described Motorcycle operators popularly called Okada riders as active and responsible Nigerians, noting that such people have decided to get themselves engaged rather than waiting for any government to provide them jobs.
The Area sales Manager of the company, Mr George Imeh disclosed this today at a sensitization program organized by the company at Ilorin the Kwara state capital. He said the sensitization became imperative for car owners in Nigeria following the level at which okada riders have been downgraded and underrated.
According to him, okada riding remains one of the best solutions to abject poverty in Nigeria.
One of the okada riders, Mr Yunusa Mohammed expressed his joy on how he had been able to finance his child’s education at the Kwara state polytechnic as well as build a two-bedroom flat from okada riding.
The event was held at Post office, Maraba, muritala, gaa-akanbi, offa garage and ministry of work in Ilorin. While addressing Okada riders in Ilorin, the program maker a Yoruba Actor, Adeniyi Johnson advised okada riders to be careful on the road.
