Arsenal fight back to beat Tottenham four-two in fiery derby

Arsenal fight back to beat Tottenham four-two in fiery derby

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice as Arsenal came from behind to beat Tottenham four-two in a thrilling North London derby at the Emirates. Aubameyang had Arsenal in front within 10 minutes from the penalty spot after Jan Vertonghen had handled in the area.

That led to a period of dominance from the hosts who should have extended their lead, but Spurs fought back thanks to two quickfire goals including a penalty of their own. Arsenal were not done though and Unai Emery brought on Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette for Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at half-time, changing shape in the process.

Aubameyang put the hosts back on level terms with a wonderful shot in the 56th minute which left Spurs’ goalkeeper Hugo Lloris standing as it curled inside his bottom left-hand post.

And in the 75th minute, Arsenal had the lead again. Lacazette was sent through but was held up — with three Spurs players around him — but was allowed to turn and shoot on the edge of the box and the ball squirmed off Dier and into the bottom corner

Two minutes later, the Gunners had breathing space as Aubameyang slipped the ball through to Lucas Torreira on the right side of the box for the Uruguayan to hammer home a fourth goal.

To add insult to injury for Tottenham, Vertonghen then received a red card in the final minutes for a bad foul on Lacazette.
