Bomb disposal officers carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious package at Manchester Airport on Monday, the police said,a man had been detained by officers at the scene.
The airport’s train station had to be evacuated and all trains, trams and buses to and from the airport suspended.
Flights were unaffected but transport to and from the airport were stopped while officers assessed the suspect package.
Greater Manchester Police in a statement said, the cordon is in place at Manchester Airport transport interchange and people are encouraged to follow directions from officers.
Police said a controlled explosion of the suspect package has taken place and enquirers continue.
