The Kwara South Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Architect Lola Ashiru has said that he was lucky to have narrowly escaped assassination last night in Ojoku, Oyun local government area.
He however said one APC member, Samson Adeosun was not that lucky as he died of gunshot wounds, while five other people were critically injured. The deceased was deposited at the Offa General Hospital while those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Hospital for medical attention.
Addressing newsmen in Offa, Offa local government, Lola Ashiru who said he was rescued by God’s intervention explained that they were attacked at the entrance of the Olojoku of Ojoku’s palace, Alhaji Abdulrasak Afolabi during a courtesy visit paid to the monarch. The candidate said his car was shot severally while about four other cars in the convoy were also destroyed during the mayhem.
He noted that the Peoples Democratic Party Senatorial candidate, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, who hails from Ojoku, was at Awrab Suites in Offa, just fifteen kilometres away, when the political thugs swooped on them. Ashiru also alleged that one of the suspect of the attack, Samson Bada was sighted with the Senator before the incident.
The APC has therefore called on security agencies to roll up their sleeves in Kwara state ahead of the 2019 general election, saying the PDP is desperate to win the 2019 general election.
Speaking for the PDP senatorial candidate, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, the PDP chairman, Ojoku ward, Salami Bolajoko denied that the PDP attacked the APC team, but rather alleged that the crisis was fomented by the APC.
