The Igbos for Progressive in Nigeria has blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s failure to give permanent voters card to people for the November 6 Anambra governorship election.
The group expressed their concern over the non-release of the permanent voter cards to those that participated in the last registration , a few weeks to the poll, and described it as a dangerous signal.
The National Secretary, Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria, Mr Micheal Chibuzor, said INEC should urgently distribute the PVC to prospective voters.
According to Mr Chibuzor, the citizen should be committed to a peaceful participation in the election because the future is theirs to make. He also called on voters for the governorship election in Anambra to be vigilant as they perform their civic responsibility by voting right.
IPAN advised the Anambra electorate to pick the governorship candidates based on their origin to determine who can manage the tiny resources of the state better.
The National President of IPAN, Mr Lawrence Onuzulike, during the press conference on Sunday in Awka, said that “Anambra cannot afford to make mistake of voting in a person that doesn’t have agenda for the people, but just to be called governor.
He added that the November 6 election is an opportunity to correct the wrongs of the past, regretting that the past leaders did not pay attention to the important issues and the incoming governor needs a political base with a general spread.
