The kwara state Governor, Doctor Abdulfatah Ahmed has called on Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON to organize a roundtable discuss and forward their salary crisis issue to Federal Government, rather than protesting to government houses.
Ahmed who explained that huge drop in allocation had affected all tiers of government; said state governments are ready to support ALGON in solving the salary crisis.
While cautioning politicians in the state to stop fueling the minds of Local Government workers against the state government through inciting statement as result of salary crisis of local government workers, Governor Ahmed frowned at the attitudes of such politicians.
He described the action as immoral and unpatriotic attempts to gain political will in respect to the local government salary crisis which according to him was affected by the huge drop in allocation to all tiers of government.
Speaking on the hardship faced by basic education teachers and other local government workers over the unfortunate delay in salary payment, Ahmed promised to do everything within his power to bring the crises to an end.
According to Him, with the ongoing staff verification, IGR reforms and the proposed takeover of Junior Secondary Education Funding, the salary crisis will soon be a thing of the past within shortest possible time.
