The Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi, SAN, has joined other numerous sympathisers to commiserate with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRasaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari (OFR) and the entire people of Kwara State over the demise of the first Lawyer in the whole Northern Nigeria, Alhaji Abdlulganiyu Folorunsho Abdulrazaq.
The Vice Chancellor also sympathised with “the AbdulRazaq family, the Emirate Council, the Nigeria Bar Association, and the Body of Benchers over the passing on of our father, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Folorunsho Abdulrazaq SAN (OFR) in the early hours of Saturday, 25th July, 2020.”
According to the Vice Chancellor, the late Alhaji AGF AbdulRazaq was a man of many parts all rolled up into one. He described him as a man whose personality, leadership qualities and integrity serve to enlighten us all on the profound impact man can have on fellow man in the path towards service to humanity.
He also acknowledged the fact that throughout his life, the late AGF abdulrazaq blazed a trail for the legal profession, education and Human Rights.
Akanbi stated that the late legal luminary was a man of many first: “The first Lawyer of Northern Nigeria extraction. He also had made his marks in virtually all he ventured into.”
He added that “his career that spanned almost seven decades reflected a lifetime’s development for humanity. As a passionate community builder, he raised awareness of educational responsibilities through the creation of what is today now known as Government High School, Ilorin. Through this, he had also advanced vibrant advocacy for those who are unable to realise their full potentials, and many more.
“The double Traditional Titles (Mutawalli Ilorin and Tafida Zazzau), which he bagged from two separate Emirates is an expression of his nationalistic and detribalised mien.”
The KWASU VC, also a SAN, lamented that the demise of Alhaji AGF Abdulrazaq has left a gaping hole in the legal profession, the Ilorin Emirate, Zazzau Emirate Council, community builders and the nation as a whole, but took solace in the fact that he has left behind an enduring legacy for others to build on.
“As we all mourn the demise of Alhaji AGF Abdulrazaq, we also celebrate the extraordinary life of this our remarkable father, who devoted the most productive years of his existence to the betterment of humanity,” he said.
He therefore prayed that Allah the Almighty repose his soul in the comfort of the grave and grant him aljannah firdaus. He also prayed that Allah grant the governor and the entire Abdulrazaq family the fortitude to bear the loss.
