Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq today felicitated with a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Mallam Mashood Mustapha on the conferment of a Yoruba traditional title on him in Ghana.
MM, as he is fondly called within the political circle, was today conferred with the traditional title of Olu Omo of Yoruba Land (Accra Region) by Oba Yoruba of Ghana, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Hamza Peregrino Brimah, the eighth.
Governor AbdulRazaq in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, said the chieftaincy title beyond the shores of Nigeria underscores Mustapha’s philanthropy and convivial nature.
In the same vein, Chairman of the Kwara State football association, Malam Idris Musa congratulated Alhaji Mustapha, on his new status as the Olu-Omo of Yoruba land, in Accra, Republic of Ghana.
Musa in a statement issued through the FA head of media and communication, Bolaji Lawal, said it is not surprising that Mustapha was spotted and honoured with the title owing to his exemplary goodwill, philanthropy and international connection.
The body expressed confidence in his ability to continue to promote the interest of the Yoruba race and Africa as a whole.
Traditional rulers, business moguls and bigwigs in the political class graced the ceremony.
Among them were the Vice President, Federal Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara state, Nigeria, Hon. AbdulGaniyu Cook Olododo, representing Ilorin East/South at the National House of representative Abuja, Nigeria, Hon. Yinka Aluko at the state House in Republic of Ghana.
Also present were the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, and the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II among others.
