AbdulRasaq tasks cabinet members on Job creation

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday reiterated his commitment to job creation, especially for the youths, charging members of the state executive council to come up with various ideas on how to further tackle unemployment in the state.

“One of our biggest challenges as a country is youth unemployment. Regardless of what we are currently doing especially with regards to our recent moves in that direction, I am charging you to come up with innovative ideas about how to create more jobs in our various constituencies,” he told cabinet members during a virtual state executive council meeting on Thursday.

“Let us brainstorm to further expand the employment base in our state,” he was quoted as saying according to a statement by Mrs Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, Hon. Commissioner for Communications on Thursday.

The Governor spoke a day after interacting with youths across the state via virtual meeting commemorating the International Youth Day.

After listening to briefings from various commissioners and the Head of Service, the cabinet also reaffirmed the recent approvals for the construction of innovation hub, visual arts centre, asphalt overlay of the Ilesha Baruba Gwanara, and establishment of the Agricultural Engineering Services (AES) Department at the Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The AES is to strengthen the state’s efforts to tap into modern agricultural practices, the HOS had told the cabinet.
