Scores of emaciated Boko Haram members begging for food are reported to have surrendered themselves to military authorities in Northeast Nigeria, with more of the terrorists ready to turn themselves in.
A military source as well as a Civilian JTF members told the Associated Press on Wednesday that seventy-six people including children and women gave themselves up to soldiers last Saturday in Gwoza, about 100 kilometers Southeast of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The military official, who begged not to be mentioned, revealed that the repentant terrorists are being detained at military headquarters in Maiduguri, which is the command center of the war against Boko Haram insurgents.
On his part, the Civilian JTF member, who helped to escort them to Maiduguri from the Boko Haram stronghold, disclosed that the detainees told him that more of the fighters were looking for ways to surrender.
