•	Labour threatens showdown with govt over threat to sack Ghost workers

In the meantime, organized labour under the auspices of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN has vowed to cripple the civil service if the federal government proceeds to sack 23,000 public servants under the guise of eliminating ghost workers.

The ASCSN National President, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama and the Secretary-General, Comrade Alade Bashirl Lawal, said this in a statement on Wednesday.

ASCSNThe union recalled that when some ministries were merged few months ago, the federal government assured Nigerians that the exercise would not lead to retrenchment.

It further noted that the last Federal Administration worked closely with labour to solve knotty labour issues without allowing them to degenerate into industrial crisis.

The Union urged President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun to institute a Government-Labour Panel to investigate the alleged existence of ghost workers in the Federal Public Service without further delay.

The Labour Congress should hide their face in shame. They should be at the forefront of this campaign by the government and not be the ones trying to be a cog in the wheel of progress the government has made in uncovering this wicked act.

It’s sad that the labour congress has resorted to threats instead of joining hands to bring the culprits to book. I doubt this is the labour congress their predecessors fought tooth and nail to establish. What a shame!!!
