Following the statement made by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachikwu, that fuel scarcity will persist till May, Kwara residents have appealed to the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR to allow the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) operate freely till the product is available in May.
Some taxi drivers and private car owners who spoke with our correspondent Olarotimi Oshin explained that black market product has damaged their engines since they started patronizing the market in the last few months.
A taxi driver, Mr Ismaila Mohammed lamented the stress of going to other states to buy the product at one hundred and thirty naira.
He urged the government to play its part by making the product available by May as promised and commence enforcement.
In his reaction, the factional chairman of IPMAN, Kwara state chapter, Olanrewaju Okanlawon said the fuel is not even available at the port in Lagos.
It would be recalled that the DPR and IPMAN in Kwara have been at logger heads over compliance with the federal government’s approved pump price of eighty-six naira, fifty kobo.
