The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, on Thursday inaugurated the party’s twenty-three-member committee on “Restructuring and true Federalism.” The officials were inaugurated at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. The committee has Kaduna State governor, Nasiru El-Rufai as its Chairman.
At the inauguration, Mr. Odigie-Oyegun said the party is not against restructuring, but added that this must be done without sacrificing or jeopardizing the fundamental unity of Nigeria.
While stating that the constitution, manifesto and political structure of the APC dwell extensively on the promise of true federalism, Oyegun said the time has come for the party to take charge of the debate on restructuring.
He told the members of the committee that their job is both critical and very sensitive especially in the light of the renewed clamour for restructuring, devolution of power, fiscal federalism, resource control and all the other names that describe the various forms of reforms being suggested for the current political architecture of the country
